IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aase Marie
Miller
August 19, 1941 – July 13, 2018
On July 13 th , 2018, Aase Marie Miller, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully in Redmond/Bellevue at the age of 76 years, after an 18-year struggle with Parkinson's Disease. Aase Marie will be forever remembered by her loving husband Bruce, two caring children Catherine & Craig, three grandchildren Søren, Andreas and Sarah and her brother John. Aase Marie's many friends will cherish their memories of happy times together with Aase Marie.
Born as Aase Marie Olsen in Stavanger, Norway on August 19, 1941 to Olaf & Magnhild Olsen, she immigrated to the US with her family after the WWII Nazi occupation of Norway. She spent her formative school years in Ballard and at Griffin Business College. She later met Bruce while working at the University of Washington, College of Fisheries. After Catherine & Craig came along, they built a life near Redmond, Washington, where she lived since 1970. Bruce and Aase Marie were married for 55 years and spent a good portion of their time together on San Juan Island at the UW Friday Harbor Labs. Aase Marie worked many of her later years as a florist where she truly used her creative talents. She loved and excelled at quilting, knitting, sewing and creating, and brought beauty to all her surroundings. Her crafts, carpentry, upholstering and cooking skills were all exceptional. Her Christian faith and her involvement at Faith Lutheran were very important to her. Aase Marie was also very proud of her Norwegian heritage and was a
long-time member (and Queen!) of the Sons of Norway Leif Erikson Lodge. As a young woman she danced with the Leikarringen folk-dance group at the Leif Erikson Lodge.
The family would like to especially give credit to Dr. Ming Hong, Kaiser Permanente neurologist, for outstanding help with her Parkinson's Disease.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on August 4 th , 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church, 9041 166th Ave NE, Redmond, WA 98052. Pastor Bob Lewis will preside. Memorial donations in memory of Aase Marie can be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
