Alfreda "Alfie" Hill-Banta
Alfie was born in Alberta, Canada on October 4, 1931; she passed away March 7, 2025 in Mount Vernon, WA. At the age of 16 she moved with her family to the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia where she finished her education and worked as an accountant in Kelowna. In 1965, Alfie moved to Seattle to accept a position at KIXI Radio until 1973, when she moved to Skagit County. From 1984 until her retirement, in 1994, Alfie owned Skagit Station Art Gallery in downtown Mount Vernon. Alfie's pet project was Skagit Valley Hospital Foundation. She spent twenty-four years working in various capacities at Festival of Tree and the Par-Tee Golf Tournament. Alfie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hill, her husband, Richard "Dick" Banta, Three brothers, two sisters and three nephews. She is survived by her brother, Hal Tetz of Calgary, Alberta; sister, Norma Reeswig of Armstrong, B.C.; stepchildren, Debbie (Sean) Hendricks, Tom (Monique) Banta, Kim Banta and their families; special friends, Emily Olson, Terry Porras and Larry Nootenboom. At Alfie's request, there will be no formal service. Alfie will be entombed at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon.
