Allen Wayne Wright was born to George William Wright and Mildred Leota Wright (Judy) on April 29, 1938, in Sedro Woolley, WA. He attended the Mount Vernon school system and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1956. He joined the Carpenters Union and worked as an apprentice until March of 1957 when he entered the Navy. He had his recruit training in San Diego, CA, boarding his first ship, the George K McKenzie DD836 in March of 1963. In January of 1962, he married Kyoko Isobe at the American Embassy in Yokohama, Japan. In April of 1965, he was transferred to the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. In October of 1967, he went aboard the USS Ajax AR6, a repair ship home ported out of Sasebo, Japan, with his wife and three children until 1973, when he went to the Development and Training Center (DATC). He retired from the Navy in 1977, after 20 years of service and moved back to Mount Vernon, WA. In 1977, he went to work for the Mount Vernon School District in Maintenance until retiring in 2001. He continued living in Mount Vernon until his passing on September 23, 2023.
Allen is preceded in death by his wife, Kyoko, and daughter, Tamara.
He is survived by his children, David and Debra; his grandchildren, Tani, Rachel, Sarah, Kyle, Sabrina, and Rylee; his great grandchildren, Teagan, Autumn, Summer, Aiden, Joziah, and Leilah; and siblings, Grace, Ruth, Leota, Rita and Fred.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 11:00am at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA.
