Alyce L. Baker, 98, of Sedro Woolley, WA passed away peacefully on June 12, 2023, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, WA. Alyce was born on April 13, 1925, at her family's farmhouse in Everett, WA.
Alyce graduated from Lake Stevens High School in 1944. In February 1947 she married William Ward. Alyce worked at the Sears store in Everett for 10 years. Alyce also worked as a manager for Murdock Apartments for 21 years. In 1979 Alyce married Harold Baker and they were together until Harold passed away at 76 years old.
Alyce had many interests and hobbies. She was a huge Seattle Mariners fan. She had a Lou Piniella baseball sitting in her TV cabinet. Alyce loved country music, crossword puzzles, chocolate chip cookies and enjoyed reading Examiner Magazine. Alyce had a wonderful sense of humor. Both Harold and Bill were World War II veterans and Alyce was a member of VFW Auxiliary for over 30 years.
Alyce is survived by her son Larry Ward; granddaughter Kathleen (John) Schatz; great-grandchildren Lilith Schatz, Payton Ward, Kailia Schatz, Asland Schatz, and Xavier Schatz. Alyce is also survived by 4 special people that touched her life: niece Gail Amonson, nephew Michael Ward, niece Shirley Taklo, and nephew Harvey Taklo. The family would also like to thank all the members of the Sedro Woolley TOPS.
A time of viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 12:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, Mount Vernon, WA. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 1:00pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA with a reception to follow.
