Alys Louise Hieronymus of La Conner, WA passed away January 6, 2007 in Mount Vernon WA. She was born October 19, 1914 in Seattle WA, to her parents Alden "Al" Cook and Alice Francina (Pickett) Cook. In her younger years, she enjoyed sewing, playing the piano, and baking oatmeal lace cookies. She loved scenic drives, especially in the mountains during autumn and fall, stopping along the way for a picnic lunch. Alys loved the companionship of family and friends, her cat Tina, and all of the staff at La Conner Retirement Inn that took such great care of her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Glenn Hieronymus; her parents; and her brother, Howard Cook. She is survived by her two sons: Michael (Kathleen) Hieronymus of Shelter Bay, WA, and Howard (Lynn) Hieronymus of Enumclaw, WA; five grandsons: Bryan (Linda) Hieronymus; Douglas (Bonny) Hieronymus; Glenn Hieronymus; Rob Hieronymus; Mike Hieronymus; one granddaughter: Gale (Tony) Torres; eight great grandchildren: Noah, Jacob, Adam, Kirsten, Logan, Kati and Calvin Hieronymus and Marco Torres. The family wishes to express their gratitude to La Conner Retirement Inn, her Hospice nurse, Doug Robinson, and each of the volunteers and social workers with Hospice that made such a difference in her life. May our loved one have touched each of your lives as you each have touched her life. Alys will be greatly missed for her gentle touch and her loving smile.
