Amy P Shields
April 26, 1935 to July 3, 2018
Amy Padgett (Emmell) Shields 83 of Mount Vernon passed away on Tuesday 3 July 2018.
Amy was born 26 April 1935 in Trenton, New Jersey to William Emmell Jr and Pearl (Kates) Emmell. Amy was the oldest of seven children.
After high school, Amy married and had 2 daughters and 4 sons who were the love of her life. In May 22, 1984, Amy married Verl Shields and they enjoyed 34 years together until her passing. Mom enjoyed life to the fullest
by playing by her own rules.
Her first love was raising her family over the many years. After all her children left for their own adventures, and after she married Verl, she continued to help her youngest daughter, Peggy and her husband Dave to raise their children. As the family would pack up and move to another duty station, and even living in-base housing, she kept the family together. Her other love was cooking; as her family was growing up she started cooking in the school system and retired 35 years later working at many different establishments around the country.
She loved going to church and visiting with the Sisters; as well as going to Wal-Mart and having fun with all the associates.
She was preceded in death by her parents: William and Pearl Emmell, and her grandson: Paul Shields
She is survived by her husband Verl, daughters: Peggy A Shields (Brown) and Betty Jasinski (Brown); Sons: William Emmell II, Edward Brown, Frank Brown, Alfren Brown, and 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
