Obituary

Andy Van Esch, 70, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones. Andy was born on May 12, 1947 in Gronegen, Holland and came to the United States when he was 10 months old. The family lived in Artesia and Needles California before settling in Mount Vernon, WA. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1965 and joined the Army in 1966. Andy served bravely in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in battle.

Andy had many hobbies including bowling, square dancing, riding his Harley Davidson, watching the Seahawks, spending time with friends, and cruising his 1941 Chevy with Thursday Nite Garage Association(TNGA). Andy was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #43 and the American Legion Riders #43.

Andy is survived by his wife Debbie, son Chris(Iris), daughter Hollie and granddaughter Alicia. He is also survived by his brothers Hank(Donna) and Randy(Linda), sister Ann(Danny), stepson Kyle and stepdaughter Toye(Lance), sister in law Linda, and many nieces and nephews. Andy was preceded in death by his parents Henderikus and Patricia, his first wife Cynthia, brothers John, Pete and Ralph and sister Betty.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 1:00pm at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA. A reception will follow the graveside service at the American Legion Post #43 in Sedro Woolley, WA at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to American Legion Post #43.
