Obituary

Annette Louise Benson Teeter March 21, 1945-January 8, 2007 After a prolonged battle with cancer, Annette Benson Teeter of Birch Bay went home to be with her Lord on January 8, 2007. Born March 21, 1945 to Ted and Myrtle Benson in Pyote, Texas, she grew up in Mount Vernon, where the family attended Bethany Covenant Church. It was there that she met her future husband Jack in the youth group. She graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1963 and attended Simpson Bible College before graduating from San Francisco City College as a Registered Nurse. She and Jack were married on August 6, 1966 and were blessed to celebrate their 40th anniversary this past August. The couple felt God's call to ministry among First Nations People in Canada and moved to Chase, BC, in 1970 to begin a ministry among the Shuswap people under the North America Indigenous Ministries. They are continuing to serve the Native people with Interact Ministries. After eight wonderful years, they moved down to the South Delta area, where Jack served as Field Director for the mission. The family attended Tsawwassen Alliance Church and South Delta Baptist Church as the children grew up. The couple moved to the Blaine area in the mid 1990s to continue their ministry, where they attended Northwood Alliance and the Birch Bay Bible Community Church. Annette will be fondly remembered for her many special hospitality ministries, and for her famous homemade Christmas fudge. Her enthusiasm and support for her favorite sports teams, especially those her kids and grandkids were involved with, left friendships and acquaintances on many levels. She touched many hearts by her positive spirit, her zest for life and her love for people and her Lord Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband, Jack R. Teeter of Birch Bay, her daughter Deborah K. Gilmore and husband Mike of Smokey Point, her son Daniel A. Teeter and wife Rachel of Sedro-Woolley, and four granddaughters: Ashley, Annalyse, Caitlin, and Madeline. Her father, Theodore A. Benson of Mount Vernon and his wife Phyllis, and two sisters also survive her, Arlene Moore of Mount Vernon, and Andrea Guy of Big Lake. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtle Benson. Viewing will be held Friday, Jan. 12th, 11 am to 8 pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way in Mount Vernon at 1:00 pm Saturday, January 13th, with the Rev. Rick Eshbaugh of Birch Bay Bible Community Church and the Rev. Christian Smith of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Annette's name to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 1515 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, WA 98273, to offset funeral and medical costs.
