Obituary

Arthur Franklin Floetke Jr (Frank)

Death date: 2/3/23 Death Place   Olympia WA

Birthdate: 6/9/30   South Bend WA

Life Events: Frank was raised in the Willapa Valley where he enjoyed fishing and harvesting oysters.  He graduated from South Bend HS and worked at Twin Harbors Lumber prior to enlisting in the Navy in 1950 and honorably discharged in 1954.  Frank attended Business College in Missouri and the University of Washington.  In 1955 he began working at Shell Oil Refinery on Fidalgo Island.  He married Iva Mae Wallem on January 30, 1960, and welcomed their first child, Jacqueline in December 1960.  Their son Brian arrived in June 1962 and their family was completed with Judy's arrival in April 1964.  The family started to outgrow their home in Mt. Vernon, so in 1969, a new family home in Burlington was established and remained until Iva's death in 1997.  Frank enjoyed gardening, bowling, fishing, golfing, playing cards, and attending sporting events with Iva and any of their kids that were around, wanting to go.  After retiring in 1987, Frank enjoyed traveling with Iva overseas, in the United States, and anywhere that caught their interest.  He began attending Bethany Covenant Church where he attended Bible Studies and spending time with friends.  3 years after the passing of his wife Iva, he remarried Nell Hartman, an old school mate he became acquainted with.  They married in November 2000 and spent several years traveling to Arizona during the winter.  Their travels slowed as Nell's health prevented extensive traveling.  In January 2005 and May 2007, he welcomed the title of grandfather and enjoyed this title, spoiling them whenever possible.  As Nell's mobility became very limited, Frank's activities included an occasional game of Pinochle at the clubhouse and an occasional game of golf.  With Nell's passing in September 2020, he went to live with Judy and her family in Eatonville.  Frank is survived by his daughter's Jacqueline Floetke, Judy McCullough (Floyd), and son Brian Floetke.  His sister Betty Jane Fisher (Don), grandchildren Iva and Benjamin McCullough along with several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl Hearing, father Arthur Franklin Floetke Sr. wives Iva and Nell, along with several sisters and a brother.

A celebration of life service will be held at Bethany Covenant Church ⛪ 1318 S 18 th St Mount Vernon WA March 3 rd , 11:00 am.
