Obituary

Barbara June (Klaus) Harris, 97, a lifelong resident of Sedro Woolley, passed away on February 15, 2021, after a brief illness.

Barbara was born in Sedro Woolley, on June 13, 1923, to Nicholas and Mattie Klaus.   Barbara loved to travel and traveled often, but Sedro-Woolley was always her home.   She was active in the community, having owned a hobby shop, worked as a nurse at the nearby hospital, and was active in local scouting for many years.

In retirement, she and her husband took to the road with their travel trailer, making long trips to Alaska and southern California, and across the country to the east coast. They flew to Hawaii and the Bahammas. She and Vernon dipped their toes in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans many times.  They often included their three grandchildren on many of their trips.  When the grandchildren were grown, Barb and Vernon turned their sights on building their dream cottage on the Oregon Coast.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, John "Vernon" Harris, and her son, Jay V. Harris.  She is survived by her grandchildren, Gary Harris, Sharon Harris, and Kimberly deBey and four great-grandchildren and a great-great granddaughter.

A viewing will be held on February 24, 2021, from 11am-3pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, Washington.
