Obituary

Benjamin Ackermann went to be with his Savior on October 14, 2022.  He was born on June 15, 1931, to Elsa and Andrew Ackermann in Grafton, Nebraska.  He completed elementary and high school in Grafton. After high school he was drafted into the Army and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. When he completed his service, he went to visit his sister in Mount Vernon, Washington, where he met Geraldine Kadyk. They were married in 1956, and started their adventure together. The Lord blessed them with 5 children.

He learned the electrical trade, and eventually bought Cascade Electric in 1979.  He changed the name to Ackermann Electric in 1989, and ran the business until he retired in 1996, when his son Evan took over. The company continues to mend shorts all over the county.

He and Gerry were instrumental in the beginnings of Mount Vernon Christian High School, and Faith Community Fellowship Church.  He was a leader in the church and school, giving much of his time to serving those around him.

After he retired, he and Gerry spent many years traveling and working with relief organizations rebuilding after disasters.

His life was focused on his faith and his family.  He is survived by his wife Gerry, his children Candie Vanderpol(Larry), Greg Ackermann(Tish), Tim Ackermann, Evan Ackermann(Susan), Kurt Ackermann(Karen), 15 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Henry, daughter in law Sienne(Tim), brother Gip, sisters Lydia, Sarah, Luella, Elizabeth, Wilma, Esther, and Rachel.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday October 22, 2022, at Faith Community Fellowship at 1427 Mont Vista Drive, Mount Vernon.
