Bert Walter was born in Dickinson, ND on November 10, 1940 to Alex and Margaret (Dukart).
He passed away May 27th, 2016. He left this world to be reunited with his Mom and Dad,
infant sisters Leona and Rosemary, and brothers Johnny, Richard and Ted .
Bert spent 23 years in the US Navy, retiring in 1981 from NAS Whidbey Island, WA. The family then moved to North Dakota for 5 years, and later returned to Washington where Bert went to work at Boeing, before retiring in 2000. He loved fishing, woodworking, and riding his 1949 John Deere in local parades. He belonged to the Hub Sportsmen Club, The 2 Cylinder Club, and Burlington Eagles. Bert was also was a member of The American Legion in New England, ND, St. Pius Verein in Dickinson ND, The Fleet Reserve, The Elks, and was a lifetime member at the VFW in Oak Harbor, WA.
Bert is survived by wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Hart); Sons Anthony (Linda), David (Kim); Daughter Debra Meduna (Ray); Grandson Anthony Walter; Granddaughters Kelly Meduna, Shelby Walter and Katelynn Walter; Great Grandson Noah Taylor; and Great Granddaughter Juliet Walter; Sister Delores Malloy of Rochester MN.; Sisters in Law Evelyn Walter and Betty Walter. Also many other relatives and friends.
A rosary will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 10:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Mount Vernon.
Following the Mass A Military Honor Ceremony will be at the Veteran's Memorial Wall in Hawthorne Memorial Park (1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, 98273).
A Reception will be held at the Burlington Eagles from 2-5pm.
