Obituary

With her children at her side, Betty decided it was time to join the angels in Heaven at Creekside Senior Living, in Burlington. While listening to 'old time gospel hymns' she joined loved family and friends at those pearly gates.

Born to Jesse (Jim) and Florence Fults, Betty began her life May 21, 1936. Sister Joyce eagerly waited in their Packwood log cabin for the news from Prosser of her arrival. Living a true rustic life she was raised on deer, elk, and the joys of picking wild huckleberries on Baby Shoe Ridge in the meadows beneath the views of Mt. Rainier. Soon, she was joined by brothers Randy and Jimmy. Living off the land included the annual family garden which yielded enough food for canning each fall and Betty was given the chore of handwashing all the Mason jars because she had the smallest hands!

Attending White Pass schools, she developed a lifelong friendship with girlfriend, Peggy. They spent many a day horseback riding and her passion for horses was ignited. As the White Pass High School's majorette, she caught the eye of a new Washington State Trooper, Herb Harriman who was assigned to the White Pass area. A year later they married on April 10, 1954, and remained married until his death. Herb and Betty were blessed with 3 children: Diana, Terry, and Dean. The life of a state trooper family led them to many communities in the state, eventually settling and raising the family in the Skagit Valley where Betty also became a beautician and continued to style hair until her recent retirement. Time spent with family and horses made her life complete. Betty is survived by Diana (Mark) Henderson of Bridgeport, Terry (Rick) White of Mount Vernon, Dean (Pam) Harriman of Republic. 'Nana' to Christie (Craig) Thompson, Emily (Aaron) Buzzard, Jenny (John) Trivett, Hailey Jo (Adam) Bergstrom, Travis Harriman, Rebecca (Nick) Gerritsen, and Derek (Kayla) White. Betty also was great-grandmother to Layla, Bayne, Cooper, Paisley Jo, Lynlee, Adalyn, Madelynne, Clayton, Kylie, Kayson, Blakely, and Charlee. Betty is preceded in death by husband Herb, sister Joyce Boogard, brothers Jimmy Fults and Randy Fults, and grandson Tyler White.
