Obituary

Bonnie Lea Teeters, age 74, of Lynnwood, Washington passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the Big Lake, WA home of her daughter and son-in-law, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 8, 1935 in Erskine, Minnesota, the daughter of Alvin & Helga (Norgaard) Stennes. The family moved westward when she was a small child, and she went on to graduate from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1953. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Vernon Orea Teeters. The couple was married July 31, 1954 in Seattle, Washington. In 1960, they moved to a new house in Lynnwood, WA, where they raised their four children and resided for the remainder of their lives. In addition to the family home, Vernon and Bonnie built a small summer cabin on Big Lake, near Mount Vernon, WA. This peaceful place of retreat and congregation holds countless happy memories of family and close friends, and is dear to all who have visited. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper and accountant her entire life—most recently for Pipeline Plumbing in Bellevue, from which she retired after Vernon's death. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Bonnie was the epitome of the word "hostess"—always welcoming anybody into her home for food, refreshments, and comfort. She loved to cook, go fishing with family & friends, play cards and dominoes, read, visit the senior center for games and conversation, and go to meetings and lunch with her numerous dear friends. Most of all, Bonnie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren—family was her most important treasure and legacy. She always had a smile on her face, laughter at the ready, and love in her heart. Bonnie is survived by her children: Cindy and husband Jack Wilson of Big Lake, Trent Teeters and wife Amaryllis of Seattle, Greg Teeters and wife Sally of Snohomish, and Todd Teeters of Mountlake Terrace; five grandchildren: Chad Wilson of Bellevue, Carly & Corey Wilson of Big Lake, and Nicklas & Riley Teeters of Seattle; brother Robert Stennes and sister Sandra French of Big Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to thank Bonnie's close friends, for their continued help and care throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Vernon (1999); parents, Alvin & Helga Stennes; mother- and father-in-law, Clara & Clarence Teeters; and nephews, Larry Stennes and Jason French. Services will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 11:00 AM at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 1825 E. College Way, Mount Vernon, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of the Northwest (formerly Skagit Hospice), due to their utmost loving care and attention to Bonnie and family.
