Obituary
Brian Scheuch passed away at home on November 6, 2016 surrounded by his love B.J. Carol, his children, and his little dog Bella at his side.
Born on September 20, 1933 to Carl and Rebecca Scheuch, he was raised in the Laurelhurst area of Seattle and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1951. He received a B.S. in Forestry from the University of Washington where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.
Brian had an extraordinary life that was full of adventure and being in the out of doors. His college summer jobs included working on a fishing boat in South East Alaska, as a Forest Service ranger on top of Harts Pass, and as a smoke jumper in Missoula, MT.
After graduating from college, Brian served in the US Army Corps of Engineers where he attained the rank of Captain. Following active duty, he started his professional career with Reichhold Chemical Company in Tacoma. He later began working at Titan Corporation in Seattle which he eventually owned and operated until his "retirement".
Brian never fully retired. He continued to perform consulting work and turned much of his energy to the many causes he was passionate about. Brian was instrumental in the beginning of the North Cascades Institute and served for many years on their board of directors. He was a site steward for the Nature Conservancy at Port Susan near Stanwood. A site he helped them obtain because he felt it had immense environmental value. He was Parks Commissioner for the Town of La Conner, spent time working with the La Conner library, and often taught Natural History classes for the Senior College in Anacortes.
Brian spent many happy years living in the town of La Conner. In the last years of his life he formed a love with B.J. Carol and they enjoyed working together on many volunteer efforts. They helped to revive the town's Fourth of July parade which included decorating Pioneer Park and setting up extensive children's games and fun activities. Brian identified the need for a waterfront park and succeeded in spearheading this effort to create the La Conner Waterfront Park with a giant salmon sculpture by artist Tom Jay.
Brian was preceded in death by his beloved son Dale and his late wife Corrine Hajek. Brian is survived by his children, Tracy (Tad) Kreager, Brad (Lisa) Scheuch, Gary (Jenny) Scheuch, Natalie (Chris) Wermus, Ben (Rachael) Herman, and his grandchildren, Kennedy, Emma, Kate, Charlie, Oliver, and Amelia.
Brian did not just "visit this world" but embraced it and left it better than when he entered.
