Obituary

Brian passed away on December 5, 2022, after a year-long battle with aggressive cancer.

He is survived by his life partner of 50 years, wife Kathy Wolfe; sons Nathan (Katherine) Wolfe, Conway, WA and Benjamin Wolfe, Danville, CA; granddaughters Meredith and Evelyn Wolfe; sisters Janet Landess (Richard Davis); and Nancy (David) Kimberly; brother Curtis (Margot) Wolfe; nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Born in Portland, Oregon July 2, 1950, and raised in Red Bluff, California, Brian took to the high seas at age 17, driven by a lifelong wanderlust for travel and adventure. After attending the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and sailing the oceans of the world, he came back to the states to obtain degrees in Structural Engineering and a Master's in Business Administration as a background to the challenges of a 50-year career in construction. He recently retired as owner of Trico Companies in Burlington, WA.

Brian has been described as outgoing, generous, competitive, funny, persistent, thoughtful and charming. He saw himself as a strategist. Finding the best way to build complex projects at work and at home was very satisfying to him. He also got great pleasure devising ways to catch that big fish on his boat WOLF, planning amazing vacations for his family, and trying to get the upper hand at Fantasy Football or at the blackjack table.

Above all, Brian was a people person. He loved connecting with people in all walks of life, listening to and remembering their stories. He developed close relationships from Key West to Hawaii and all points in between. He helped many along the way, as he had been helped in his early years. His greatest love was for his family and his many supportive friends. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of his life will be held after the first of the year.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brian's name to the Boys and Girls Club of Skagit County.
