Obituary

Bruce Leon Monrad, 79, died June 10, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, Washington, with family by his side.

He was born December 1, 1942 to Edgar and Agda "Jo" (Olson) Monrad. The eldest of three children, Bruce was raised in Concrete, where he attended Concrete schools and graduated with the class of 1961.

He was united in marriage with his wife, Judy on April 15, 1967, and together they raised two sons, Greg and Steven.

A hard worker and skilled problem solver, Bruce worked as a millwright at several shake and shingle mills in the Skagit Valley before working for several years at Pederson Brothers Inc. in Bellingham, where he retired as their shop foreman.

Through the years, Bruce served his community as a youth baseball coach, boy scout leader, volunteer fire fighter, was active at the Concrete Assembly of God Church, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to people in the community.

In his free time, Bruce enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and other outdoor activities.  Bruce and Judy enjoyed many memorable boating adventure and travels in their fifth wheel trailer.  In recent years he and Judy could be frequently found enjoying their E-Bikes on the Cascade Trail, logging 2000 miles in less than two years.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Judy. Sons Greg (Wendy) Monrad of Anchorage, Alaska and Steven Monrad of Anacortes. His brother, Brad (Kathy) of Concrete; and Grandsons Jade (Julia) Aronson of Bothell, and Jesse (Barbara) Aronson, and Benjamin Monrad, and a great granddaughter due to arrive any day in Anchorage, Alaska.  He is also survived by his cherished cousins, several nieces and nephews, and many treasured friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Agda Jo, and his sister Barbara.

A Memorial Service is planned for 1 p.m., Saturday, June 18 at the Concrete Assembly of God Church.
