Dave Maars, age 77, of Edison, WA passed away January 4, 2012 at Skagit Valley Hospital after a very brief 12 day bout with cancer. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School with the class of 1952 and from the University of Washington in 1965 with a degree in chemical engineering. He was employed by Lone Star Industries for 37 years and had worked for Chryso as a sales rep for grinding aids for the cement industry. Dave enjoyed golfing, breakfast with friends, playing gin rummy with a group of friends at the Skagit Golf & Country Club. He also enjoyed traveling, fishing, planting a garden (for the cows). Most of all he enjoyed his 3 special grandchildren. He married Diann Eitreim on July 15, 1961 and just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. He was preceded in death by his parents, Karl & Julia Maars and an infant son Todd David. He is survived by his wife Diann; son Gregory (Sue); daughter Kristin (Gary) Gaeta; and twin grandsons Jack & Brad Gaeta; and granddaughter Annika Maars. Cremation and burial arrangements were with Hawthorne Funeral Home. A memorial will be held at a later date.
