Carl Gustav Johnson, age 62, born on November 12, 1950, passed away on March 21, 2013 from a long illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Johnson and his mother, Margaret Johnson. Carl, aka: Dad, his wife Debbie's Johon, Yoswede, Gus, Zorro, and Tweety, was born and raised in Skagit County for most of his life. The family who survives him include: his wife Debbie, daughter Jessica and son in law Kit Neal, his brother and wife, Don and Elaine Johnson, his sister and husband, Marilyn and Bill Olson, his nieces: Nikki Olson and partner Scott Strickert, Laura and husband Martin McDaniel, his nephews: Todd Olson and Jared Olson, and many cousins, second cousins, aunts and uncles and in laws. Carl was a loving, caring, fun, dedicated, and very proud Dad and Father in Law. He was the love of Debbie's life, married 31 plus years, and loved and enjoyed by all his family. He loved golf, fishing, reading, music, sharpening knives, traveling, working on the property, mowing his pasture, (dreaming of it looking like a golf course), and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. He was also a marvelous chef and took great pride in coming up with his own recipes, as well as cooking his favorites and most requested meals, including his famous Swedish pancakes, party mix, and spaghetti. He loved traveling with his family and was able to experience many different towns, countries and golf courses. For over 30 years Carl was a Paramedic in Skagit County, a long time Conway Fire Department volunteer, an EMT instructor, and participated in developing plans and protocols for the early Medic One system in Skagit County. He took pride in seeing this system grow over the years and always hoped to see the best care possible given to the residents of Skagit County. On the fun side, Carl loved telling Sven and Ole jokes, sharing long tales of fishing and hunting, and adventure stories from his earlier years. He also loved visiting with whoever he ran into. There wasn't a place we would go in this County that someone didn't say hi and know him from past or present, service or friendship. We will all miss Carl and hope that he will be present in our hearts and memories as well as in all to come that he will miss in presence but participate in spirit. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2013, 2:00 pm at the Skagit Golf and Country Club, Burlington.
