Carmen Krieger, 84, passed away on Wednesday June 4, 2025, surrounded by her family. Carmen had been battling pancreatic cancer for over a year. She was born in Kindred, North Dakota. Her family eventually settled in Mount Vernon, WA. Where she met Donald Krieger and married him in 1959. They started a family and had 6 children. Carmen loved traveling with her husband and children. As her children grew, they married and started families of their own. From her 6 children she had 26 grandchildren, 63 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. Being a mother and grandmother was the most important thing to her. Baking and making large dinners for her family was always something that she did for the ones she loved. She was a devout Catholic and saying the rosary always brought her immense joy. Carmen is survived by her 4 siblings; Ruth Ruiz (Tony) of Mount Vernon, Richard Gutierrez of Mount Vernon, George Gutierrez of Mount Vernon, and Francisco (Paquito) Gutierrez of Mexico, her children; Ruthie Griffith, Lisa Shultz (Maurice), Vera Rogers (Jeff), Dawna Krieger, Donny Krieger, and Michael Krieger. Plus, many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Carmen is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Refugio Gutierrez; her husband Donald Krieger and her siblings; Robert Gutierrez, Vera Jutte, Ernestina Rea, Hugo Gutierrez, Yolanda Diaz, Joe Gutierrez, and Bella Gutierrez, and her son in law John F. Griffith. Carmen was married to Donald for 56 years and passed away on his birthday, we take comfort in the hope that they are together again. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 13, 2025, 12:00 pm at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Rosary will be said starting at 11:30 am. Committal Prayers will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park,1825 E College Way Mount Vernon, WA 98273. Upon Carmen's request there will be no reception.
