Carol Hanley, age 86 of Mount Vernon, died April 23, 2014. She was born October 1, 1927 in LaConner Washington to the late Joseph and Mildred Otis. She grew up in LaConner, went to Nursing School in Bellingham. She met and married Arthur Hanley in 1950, when she married him she also married the US Army. They traveled the world until 1968 when they retired from the Army and settled down to civilian life in Mount Vernon, WA . In 1988 they retired to travel the United States. They traveled to 48 states, visiting friends, family and Casinos. She lived on the farm they purchased in 1968 until her death. She loved her farm, her kids and her animals. She is survived by her four children: Brad Hanley, Sedro Woolley, WA, Donna Hanley, Mount Vernon, WA, Kim Hanley, Mount Vernon, WA and Kit & John Young, Camano Island, and close family friend Kirk Strandberg, Arlington, Wa. She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Art ("Bill"), seven brothers Ervin, Don, Earl, Rodney, Stan, Marv, and Ralph, and one sister, Wilma. A Graveside Service will take place Wednesday, April 30, 2014, 1:00 pm. at Hawthorne Memorial Park, followed by a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room.
