Carol Frieda Owens, 79, passed away after a 20-month long fight against cancer, on April 14, 2021 in Sedro Woolley, WA.

She was born in Rugby, North Dakota in December 1942 to Albert and Frieda Buelow. Carol was raised on the family homestead near Drake, North Dakota. Carol graduated from Drake High School and North Dakota State University with a degree in mathematics. She worked for the Mayo Clinic as a research assistant. She worked for IBM as a Staff Programmer in application development until she retired in 1990 and moved from California to Washington State. She was married in 1979 to Donald A. Owens in California.

Carol enjoyed traveling to most of the US, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico, Central America, Europe, and Japan. She loved the beauty and climate of the Pacific Northwest.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Frieda Buelow, her brother Raymond Buelow, her brother Gerald Buelow and wife Lora.

Carol is survived by her husband Don Owens, her brother Fred Buelow and wife Lois, her sister Lucille Buelow, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carol was a lifelong, active member of the Lutheran Church.

Cremation and burial will take place at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA. No funeral or public service is planned. A memorial service will take place at a future date.
