Obituary

Catherine Nash Herdt, 89, of Mount Vernon, WA passed away peacefully on May 22, 2021 at home with her husband and family by her side.  Catherine was born on January 15, 1932 in Friday Harbor, WA to Albert Sr. and Margaret Nash.  She was raised on Friday Harbor and graduated from Friday Harbor High School in 1950.  She was one of 12 students in her graduating class that year.  After high school Catherine attended Seattle University.  She met the love of her life Gary Herdt and the two were married in 1951. Over the next 5 years they had 4 daughters.  They spent 70 wonderful years of marriage together.

Catherine had many hobbies including boating, swimming, dancing, hunting and fishing but her favorite activity was golfing, and she was especially proud of her 2 holes in one.  Catherine worked for many years as an accountant and office manager, retiring from Gearhart Ford after many years of dedicated service.

Catherine is survived by her husband Gary Herdt; daughters Vicki (Mike) Blade, Margo (Bob) Frydenlund, and Toni (Frank) Silvestri. She is also survived by her grandchildren Katie, Abe, Brett, Alex, Levi and Cooper and 6 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents Albert Sr. and Margaret Nash; brothers Charles, Albert Jr., and Kenny; daughter Kim Herdt Pflepsen and grandson Nolan Machung.

A private family Funeral Mass was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, WA on Thursday, May 27, 2021 with a graveside service to follow at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA.
