IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charanne Marie
Wolden
February 2, 1941 – August 12, 2022
On August 12th, 2022, Charanne "Sherry" M. Wolden went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Sherry was born on February 2, 1941, in Kirkland, WA to Jacob and Charlotte Laan. Soon after, the family moved to Stanwood where she attended grade school and graduated from Twin City H.S. in 1959. She had fond memories of family life, including horseback riding, boating, hiking, camping and swimming in lakes and rivers, with her mom, dad, sister Kathie and brother Jacob.
She met the love of her life, Daniel "Harry" Wolden, just before starting her senior year of H.S. They married on July 18, 1959 and made their home on Fir Island where they raised their children, Joni, Lisa and Douglas. Sherry learned to work hard while working for her father in his butcher shop, and then as a bus driver for the Mount Vernon School District. She loved taking her special needs students to school and stayed in touch with their families after her retirement.
Sherry was adventurous and loved to travel. She and Harry visited many parts of the world including the Caribbean, Mexico, Spain, Morocco, Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Japan. One of the highlights was riding an elephant in Thailand. Her favorite vacations were spent with family in Hawaii during Christmas break and on Orcas Islan d in the summer.
She was known as "Mrs. Friendly" because she made friends everywhere she went. After meeting someone, it wasn't long before she knew everything about them. She had a way of making you feel important.
She loved going on antiquing trips with her parents and her sister Kathie for glassware.
Her grandchildren meant everything to her. She enjoyed buying them Beanie Babies, Hot Wheels, taking them shopping to their favorite places, attending their school activities, bowling tournaments and soccer games.
She and her high school girl friends, the 59ers, kept in touch over the years, traveled together to many places and enjoyed social gatherings. Recently, she was able to spend a day with them which lifted her spirits.
Sherry is survived by daughters Joni (Craig) Lorscheider, Lisa (Paul) Klein, grandchildren Sara (TJ) Rock, Heidi Lorscheider, Spencer Lorscheider and Kyle Klein, sister Kathie (Gene) Carnegie, and nieces Angela (Larry) Blacksher and Roebi (Scott) Calvin. She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, son Doug, parents Jacob and Charlotte Laan, and brother Jacob Laan.
The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain Glen Assisted Living for the excellent care given to our mom during her stay. Special thanks to her devoted friends Norma Hughley, Shirley Rekdal, LaJune Bromels, her sister Kathie Carnegie and sisters-in-law Judy Walker and May Larson. Your phone calls, visits and friendship meant the world to her.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association (heart.org) or a charity of your choice.
In honor of Sherry's wishes, there will be a private immediate family only graveside service.
