Cornie Hibma, 88, passed into his Savior's loving arms on March 30 ^th , 2023.  Cornie was born January 20 ^th , 1935 to John and Alice Hibma in Maurice, Iowa.  A year later the family moved to Artesia, CA.  He had seven siblings.  His father passed away when he was 12 years old and Cornie worked, along with his brothers, to support the family.

He married his loving wife Nellie Jean Hibma on August 25, 1954.  They had 5 children.  As a young man he was a ranch hand on a dairy farm.  Later he owned a gardening maintenance company.  In 1978, Cornie and Nellie bought a dairy farm with his 2 older sons and moved to Burlington, WA.  His wife Nellie passed away September 10, 2003.

He sold the dairy after 19 years in business and went full circle back into landscape maintenance.  Cornie married his second loving wife Gertrude Driesen February 14, 2009.  He and Gert loved mowing lawns together and he finally quit at the age of 85.

Cornie was an active member of Artesia Christian Reformed Church, Mount Vernon Christian Reformed Church and later Faith Community Fellowship.  He served as both deacon and elder.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings and first wife, Nellie.  He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He is survived by his wife Gertrude, children: Jay (Nellie), Mike (Susan), Tammy (Bill) Drake, Randy (Lisa) and Rodney (Susan),  stepson John (Lori) Driesen, 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mount Vernon Christian School Tuition Assistance.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, April 5 ^th at Faith Community Fellowship, 1427 Monte Vista Drive, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
