Obituary

Dad started his life in Pillager Minnesota on February 26, 1934, son of Robert & Grace (Richmond) Oliphant.  He joined the Army in 1952.  His first tour was to France.  From there back to the state where he was stationed around Seattle and would visit his family in Sedro Woolley.  At that family member's home he met our mom, Jeannette.  They were married in December of 1956.  He was able to take our family on his tours of Okinawa and Alaska.  He went with his units on 2 tours in Vietnam, while we waited for his return at home.  He retired from the Army in 1972, and his next career was for the state as bus mechanic and much more for Griffin and Burlington School Districts.

He officially retired in 1994, however did some fill in for other school districts for a few years.  He and mom were able to travel for a few years before mom passed in 1998.  Then one or more of us kids would travel with him at least once a year.  He enjoyed hunting and reloading, working on autos and riding his motorcycle.  He also built his own TV and computer.

He is survived by his daughters Barb and Nancy(Galen) and sons Tim(Lynn), Ken(Mary), Rob, Scott(Allison) and Steven, 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.  Brothers Galen, Bruce(Mary), Gary(Jan) and sisters Sharon, Diane(Sami) and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert & Grace, wife Patricia Jeannette (Welch), brothers Marvin and Ralph, sisters Ardy, Betty, Janie.
