IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dan E
Ovenell
November 4, 1925 – January 10, 2022
Born to George and Ruth Ovenell in Burlington, WA. Dan was raised in Skagit Valley and was a Burlington-Edison HS grad. Dan served in the Army and was stationed in Okinawa after WWII. After military service, he went on to graduate from Washington State College (WSU) and was a huge Cougar fan. He taught at Chimacum HS and Kamiakin MS. Dan met his wife, Anne, at a dance at the Norway Center in Lower Queen Anne and they spent the next 60 years together. He loved jazz, Dixieland music, and playing trombone. He loved his family and was always available to help or give encouragement. His favorite times were being outside, backpacking with his family, working on his farm in Chimacum and home in Woodinville. A talker, he enjoyed taking up a conversation with anyone he met with his friendly smile. In retirement, Dan and Anne traveled all over the states and overseas.
Dan was preceded in death by sisters Elsie Rader and Betty Keene, and brothers Edward and David Ovenell. Dan is survived by his loving wife Anne; his sons Roy (JoAnne), Garth (Marcia) and Egill; and six grandchildren Tatia, Griffin, Laurel, Kara, Jaeden and Aram.
