Obituary

Dana passed away peacefully on February 9th, with her loving partner by her side. She was a Warrior Queen, who fought her cancer to the very end. She turned a diagnoses of six months into a year and two months.

Dana Pearson was born to Ronald and Jean Pearson on October 26, 1962. She joined her brother Troy in the family home in Conway, WA. She grew up enjoying a close knit family and neighborhood. She attended Conway School, and then went to Mt. Vernon High School, where she graduated in 1982. The family played together, fun outings set up for the kids to enjoy, fun days spent at the cabin on Big Lake, and boating trips on the Sound. The family also enjoyed riding motorcycles together. Dana loved riding the Kawasoki with the neighborhood kids. She even hopped on it at her 60th birthday celebration.

She worked at Drummond's Restaurant and at Wee Care in Mt. Vernon. Her love of littles made it easy to leave the restaurant and go to Wee Care as her career. She worked there for 25 years.

Through friends at work, she had a blind date for the annual Christmas party, and that date turned into a 23 year relationship with her best friend and life partner, (Charles) Nathan Self JR. The two shared the love of the outdoors, family gatherings, traveling over to the east side, going to parades, and local fairs.

Dana loved her home and took great pride in her yard. She enjoyed mowing, weed eating, and edging to keep her yard immaculate. She enjoyed her gazebo and loved her yard art, especially the bird house made by her Dad. The wood pieces made by Harlen Hanson also held a piece of her heart. It was hard for her to pass up a whirly gig or shepherds rod that would hold more treasures. She also loved animals, especially her dogs and cats.

Dana loved a party, and for her 60th birthday, a special celebration was held for her. She invited the Bulson Community, the neighborhood kids, and elementary classmates. Many had not seen each other in years! They pledged to get together at Dana's a month later, which they did. Albums were shared, along with lots of laughter and stories. She chose her friends well. This group supported her daily with texts, cards, phone calls, and visits. This brought her great joy. Dana always loved with her whole heart.

Dana is preceded in death by her dad, Ronald Pearson.

She leaves behind her partner Nathan (Charles) Self JR; her mother, Jean Pearson; brother, Troy Pearson; nephew, Tyler Pearson; beloved Aunt & Uncle Judy and George Hargraves; and many cousins who loved her deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18th, 2023, at 11 AM at Valley Baptist Church, 710 John Linen Road, Sedro Woolley, WA, 98284. A reception will follow. The family requests that, in honor of Dana, everyone wear red to the Celebration of Life. Red was her favorite color.
