David Allen Bucks
February 16, 1947 – February 20, 2025
David Allen Bucks, 78, of Mount Vernon, Washington, passed away on February 20, 2025, in Everett, Washington.
Born on February 16, 1947, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, David graduated from ELCO High School in 1965 and went on to serve his country with honor in the United States Air Force. A proud veteran, he dedicated over two decades to his military career, retiring at the rank of Master Sergeant. His service took him across the globe, including assignments in Spain, Greece, Japan, Labrador, and numerous locations across the United States—experiences he cherished deeply.
Following his military retirement, David continued working in the field of information technology, where he brought the same discipline and dedication that had defined his years in uniform.
A man of many passions, David enjoyed brewing his own beer, cheering for his favorite NASCAR drivers, faithfully supporting the Pittsburgh Steelers, and capturing the world around him through photography. He was also an avid gun collector and loved being involved in his local community. He served as a member of the Mount Vernon Volunteer Police Patrol (COPP) and contributed his time to the Landscape Committee for his neighborhood's HOA.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Bucks; his children, Kimberly Cheek and Gregory Bucks; grandchildren, Keera Cheek, Ethan Bucks, and Noah Bucks; siblings, Margie Dissinger, Alvin Bucks, and Benjamin Bucks; and several nieces and nephews. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose steady presence and sharp wit will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Hawthorne Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 1825 East College Way, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
David's legacy of service, loyalty, and laughter lives on in all who knew and loved him.
