IN LOVING MEMORY OF
David L
Gustafson
September 11, 1942 – June 11, 2025
David L. Gustafson (1942-2025) passed away at his home of over 30 years in Sedro-Woolley Wednesday June 11th. He was born in Sedro-Woolley September 11th, 1942, and lived around here almost all his life, including graduating from Concrete High School in 1960.
David was a big-hearted, dedicated, hardworking and hilarious man. He has a large, loving family, good friends and it's said he never met a stranger. He spent two years in the Army, including serving in Germany. David had good employment as a skilled mechanic his whole life. He retired from his last job after working over 20 years as "The Gear Man" for Motor Trucks in Mt. Vernon. David enjoyed his retirement, spending 15 years or so traveling all over the U.S. with a smattering of international trips included along the way.
David was a member and supported the Sedro-Woolley "Fraternal Order of Eagles" – a fraternal and community service organization. He loved the literal log cabin and surrounding property – named the "Gustafson Estates"- he and Linda bought in the Aeneas Valley. He spent entire days happily clearing trails and doing upgrades, like adding a well and a hot water shower.
David is survived by his loving and well-loved wife of 37 years, Linda K. Gustafson. He is also survived by his daughter Sandra Wagner (Richard) and son David Ryan Gustafson, 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. David is additionally survived by his brother, Bob (Debi) and his sister, Linda Darlene Gustafson. He is proceeded by his parents Elmer and Lorna Gustafson and his daughter Andrea Johnson.
David will always be known for his tremendous love of his family (and his dogs – especially Tucker, Tanya and Buddy), his country and the great outdoors. We'll hear his voice saying "Look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls" for the rest of our lives. These and many other loving, happy recollections will live on forever in the memories of those of us that had the privilege to know David Gustafson.
His graveside memorial service will be held July 11th at 11 A.M. at Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mt. Vernon. A reception will follow at 1 P.M at the "Fraternal Order of Eagles" building in Sedro-Woolley. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the local "Fraternal Order of Eagles" or the national "Tunnel to Towers Foundation".
The family would like to thank both the Cancer Center at United General MC in Sedro-Woolley and the Hospice of the Northwest staff for their kind and professional services. Also special thanks to Amber and Nathan Brown as well as Ben and Sammy.
