Obituary

David (Dave) Lawrence Schorno, 87, passed away into the loving arms of his Savior on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Bellingham, WA.

Dave was born on February 3, 1937, in Edison, WA to Anton Schorno and Regina Elisabeth Reichlin Schorno.  He was one of ten children.

Growing up on the family farm in Conway, WA, Dave loved working alongside his parents and siblings, tending to the farm, which provided for his family.  He loved everything country and the Skagit Valley was his home.

Upon graduating from Mount Vernon High School in 1956, Dave enlisted in the Army and served his country valiantly with the 10th Infantry Division in Germany and Korea.

After return to civilian life, and throughout the years that followed, Dave worked for Draper Valley Farms, Norm Nelson, as well as many local farmers.  Since agriculture was his way of life, he was in his happy place.  Later in life, and to keep busy, he mowed lawns with his longtime friend, Wayne Eaton, and maintained a paper route with his longtime companion, and the love of his life, Nancy Morrison.

Dave was a kind, loving and gentle man who loved his family unconditionally, and who would help anyone in need.  He was a very friendly man who never met a stranger.  His home was always open for anyone to stop by and share a visit over a cup of coffee.  He loved to "tinker" in his shop, working on his vehicles or the various lawn mowers and weed eaters he owned.  Dave was quite the "Mr. Fix-It"!  He also had a great love for western movies and all things John Wayne.  After retirement, he loved to make his rounds at The Knotty Pine or Truck City, drinking coffee and visiting with his friends and, occasionally, a stranger or two.

Dave was preceded in death by Nancy Morrison, his longtime companion in January, 2013; by his siblings Regina Black, Joe Schorno, Tony Schorno, Elsie Schuler, Dina Schorno and Josie Wilson.

Dave is survived by his Son, Dave Schorno and his wife, Janet, of Sedro-Woolley, WA; Granddaughter, Kristen Needham and her husband, Carter, of Sedro-Woolley, WA; Son, Ken Schorno and his wife, Tami, of Conway, WA; Granddaughter, Madisen Schorno; Grandson, Quinten Schorno; Siblings Leonard Schorno of Quincy, WA, Verna Richardson of Spokane, WA and Hilde Lisk of Marysville, WA; along with many nieces, nephews and special friends.

GOODBYE, DAD, FOR NOW…..UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN!
