Obituary

Della Mae Schingeck passed away on Thursday, December 1 st , 2022.  She died peacefully and was attended by her devoted husband, children, and grand-children.

Born of Leonard and Ona Wagoner on February 14 th 1939 she was sister to Wayne Wade, Judy Newlin, and Leslie Wagoner, all of whom preceded her in death.  The family lived in Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Washington State while she was growing up.  She settled in Washington's Skagit Valley and married Ernest Carl Schingeck Jr. in 1975.  Her family's childhood wandering instilled a love of travel and the American West that never faded as she would lead her own family on many long road trips throughout the country.

Della's talents and interests were many.  She was a 4-H club leader for many years teaching cooking, sewing, and showing cats.  She is a past President at the Burlington Eagles where she also tended the bar.  She bartended at the Idle Hour and The Old Edison Tavern at times as well.  She retired from the Burlington-Edison School District in 1997 as the head cook at Bay View Elementary after serving many years at West View Elementary.  She was also an avid reader at one time having collected and read all of Louis L'Amour's Western novels that celebrated the landscapes and people she loved.

She is and will be dearly missed by those she is survived by including her spouse of 47 years Ernest Schingeck, and children: Gene Secor, Clara (Jim) Kyle, Ona (Mike) Hamilton, Louise Rigelman, and David Schingeck (Casey LLewellyn). Grandchildren: Kandice (George) Voile, Krista (Mackenzie) Cameron, Jessica (Rod) Smith, Angela (Daniel) Donnelly, Kellie Hamilton, Stanley Secor, Jasmine Rigelman, Nicholas Rigelman (Josie Bear), Samantha (Kris) Doggett, Zack Rigelman (Rachel Phillips), Michelle (Matt Withers), and Christina Trimm. Great-Grandchildren: Cora, Quin, and Eira Voile, Tanner and Stella Cameron, Abigail and Theodore Donnelly, Andre and Griffin Smith, Aubrie Hamilton, Hannah and Owen Withers, and Jonathan Trimm. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by twin infant sons Floyd and Lloyd Secor, son Harvey Secor, and son in law Jeff Rigelman as well as ex-husbands Dick Secor and Bob Thronson.
