Dennis Bissell, 78, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024 surrounded by his family.  He was born on November 16, 1945 in Hastings Nebraska.  First born to Charles and Vivian Bissell followed by his sister Dianne.  They moved to Burlington WA when he was a small boy and he later graduated from Burlington-Edison High School in 1964 where he was a wrestler and baseball player (pitcher).  He married his high school sweetheart Carol Schesser in 1966 and moved to Samish Island where they raised their 2 daughters Julie and Jodie.  Dennis started working for his father at Purves Plumbing in the early 1970's and then later became the owner.  He married Wanda Bissell in 1989 and lived in Snohomish and then bought his parents' house in Burlington.  Before his passing he lived in Mount Vernon, WA with Arlene.

Dennis loved spending time with his family taking them boating to the San Juan islands, salmon and crab fishing, taking the grandkids fishing and riding ATVs on family outings,  He also spent many years hunting with family in eastern Washington hunting elk, deer and pheasants.  He loved to play cards with family and friends, mostly poker so he could take their pennies from them.   He was quite the jokester and loved to play them on family and friends especially on his grandkids. He loved training his hunting dogs, taking pictures of his girls and grandkids at their sporting events. He also enjoyed working and tinkering with classic hot rod cars, he won several trophies showing his cars.  He also was a member of the local Burlington gun club and enjoyed Trap and Skeet shooting. He also competed in long range target shooting and won several events.  He was also a member of the Eagles and Ducks Unlimited.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Vivian Bissell.

Dennis is survived by his sister Dianne Melson and daughters, Julie and James Stucker, Jodie and Todd Johnson, along with grandchildren, Amy Hjelt, Michael and Kayla Hjelt, Kaylee Stucker, Eric and Kimi Edwards, and Brandon Edwards.  Great grandchildren Bently Hjelt & Mavery Hjelt.

A celebration of life will be held on April 6, 2024, at 4:30pm at Max Dales Restaurant in Mount Vernon, WA.
