Diane Lynn (Brandstrom) Logsdon, beloved mother and wife, passed away in the early hours of July 29, 2026.
Diane was born on August 21, 1948, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Patrianell Hart and Duane “Dewey” Severson. A few years later, she was joined by her little sister, Gail Marie.
After spending much of her younger years moving around with her family, Diane eventually landed in Skagit County, Washington—a place she would continue to call home for the rest of her life.
Diane attended school in the Mount Vernon School District, where, as fate would have it, she met her future husband, Gail, on the merry-go-round. As the story goes, he decided to push her off the playground toy, causing her to break her two front teeth. The running joke they would tell their children for decades was that he had to marry her to take care of her dental bills. Diane and Gail began dating when she was 14 and he was 16, marrying a few years later on October 11, 1968.
The couple welcomed their son, Todd, on March 7, 1973, and their family was completed with the arrival of their daughter, Holly, on January 23, 1976.
An avid reader and lifelong learner with a natural aptitude for math, Diane spent her career as an accountant, working for Williams and Nulle, Thrifty Foods, TruckVault, and Ravnik & Associates, all of which became like second families to her.
After retiring from the workforce, Diane enjoyed reading, gardening, and getting her hands dirty working in her yard. She loved watching classic movies, musicals, crime series, and any film starring Elvis. Oftentimes, she could be found listening to country music as loudly as possible while singing along, or trying her luck at the casino playing slots or enjoying a round of bingo. Lady Luck appeared to be on her side, as she won several jackpots throughout her lifetime.
During the latter part of her life, Diane, who was living with dementia, was lovingly cared for at Bakerview Adult Family Home in Mount Vernon, where the wonderful owners, Abby and Roger, embraced her with grace, kindness, and love. Affectionately referred to as “Ma,” Diane quickly became a fixture in the home, making sure to keep the house in “running order” as only she could. Diane’s children will forever be grateful for everything Abby, Roger, and the incredible caregivers at Bakerview did for their mother. They always went above and beyond in caring for her, and to say they were a blessing would be an understatement.
After more than 50 years of marriage and many more decades together, Diane has finally been reunited with her beloved husband, Gail, who passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2025.
Diane was also preceded in death by her mother, Patrianell “Pat” Cassell; her biological father, Duane “Dewey” Severson; her adoptive father, Dennis Brandstrom; her father “in heart,” Walter “Buck” Cassell; her in-laws, Gail W. “Tony” Logsdon, Dorothy (Logsdon) Bell, and Robert C. “Bobby” Bell; and her younger sister, Gail Marie Austin.
Diane is survived by her son, Todd (Alicia) Logsdon; her daughter, Holly Rinne; her grandchildren, Synaca (Melanie) Witherington, Kalani (Lily) Witherington, Bella Rinne, Oliver Rinne, Luukas Rinne, Liam Logsdon, and Declan Logsdon; and her two great-granddaughters, Ellie and Emma WItherington. Diane was also blessed with a large extended family and many close friends who will greatly miss her beaming smile and beautiful heart.
A celebration of life honoring Diane is being planned, with additional information and details to follow.
