Obituary

Dolores F. Gamble, age 86, a resident of Lake McMurray, passed away on September 16, 2011 in Edmonds, WA surrounded by family. Dolores was born in Chicago, Illinois on June 7, 1925, the daughter of William Ernest Henley and Frances Green Henley (deceased). She moved to Seattle when she was four after the death of her mother and was raised by her loving grandmother, Mary Mildred Henley in Ballard and attended schools there, graduating from Ballard High School in 1943. She also attended Shoreline Community College for two years. Dolores married George Edward Gamble in 1949 and they lived in North Seattle and Edmonds prior to moving to Lake McMurray in 1987 after their retirement. Dolores worked for the State of Washington, DSHS, for 38 years as a Medical Records Administrator and was Director of the DSHS Records Reference Center in North Seattle and later Kent. Her husband of 51 years passed away in April 2011. Dolores is survived by one son, Greg B. Gamble and his wife Rise of Edmonds; daughter, Kathy Huswick and her husband Carl of Marysville, WA; and stepdaughter, Georgeann Gamble of Smokey Point. She is also survived by her much loved grandchildren who were the light of her life, Heather and Eric Huswick and Reanna, Mackenzie and Cassidy Gamble; as well as her step-grandchildren, Mark Abrams, Tory Dotson, Ryan Mitchum and Donalda Domina and their children Alisha and Josh Mitchum, Bailey Dotson and J.J. Domina. Dolores' greatest joy was to be with her children and grandchildren and friends. She enjoyed playing cards with friends at Burlington Senior Center and playing cards with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed getting together with neighbors several afternoons a week. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Firland Foundation for 26 years which funded a Sheltered Workshop and was a member of the Skagit Widowed Support Services, Skagit Valley Genealogy Memorials may be made to Lake McMurray Fireman's Association, 22790 Front Street, Mount Vernon, WA 98274 or charity of your choice. Viewing will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2011, 10:00am until 5:00pm and Thursday, September 22, 2011, 10:00am until 5:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, September 23, 2011 at 2:00pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home, followed by a reception in the Hawthorne Reception Room. A private graveside service will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery in Lynnwood.
