Dolores Evelyn (Lybarger) Tawes, 88, of Mount Vernon passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017 surrounded by family and loved ones.  Dolores was born in Bellingham, WA on August 21, 1928 to Robert "Frank" and Evelyn Lybarger.  She graduated from Bellingham High School in 1946 and in June 1947 she married the love of her life, Howard Tawes and the two were together for 64 years until Howard's passing in 2011.  Dolores and Howard lived in Ferndale from 1947-1958 and had two children; Marcia Findlay and Darrell Tawes.  The family moved to Mount Vernon in 1958 and Dolores found work at Lindberg Drug and College Way Pharmacy.  She loved her job and worked at the pharmacies for 29 years before retiring.

Dolores was a member of First United Methodist Church and the South Mount Vernon Kiwanis Club.  She was an avid gardener, enjoyed sending greeting cards, and loved caring for others.

She is survived by her children Marcia (Ray, deceased) of Lacey, WA and Darrell (Patty) Tawes of Mount Vernon, WA.  She is also survived by her grandson Chris (Andrea) Tawes of Olympia, WA, Shaun Tawes of Mount Vernon, WA, Ryan (Elizabeth) Findlay of Olympia, WA and Troy Findlay of Lacey, WA.  As well as five great- grandchildren; Allie, Sierra, and Ryder Findlay of Olympia and Lacey, WA and Savannah and Scarlett Tawes of Mount Vernon, WA.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff of United General Hospital in Sedro Woolley for their compassion and wonderful care they provided for our mom during this difficult time.
