Obituary

Donald MacIntyre Black passed away June 15, 2016 at the family home in Mount Vernon . Donald was born December 24, 1952 in London , England the second child of Ian and Kathlyn Black.

The family moved to Mount Vernon in 1963. Don graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1970 and attended Skagit Valley College . He was a commercial fisherman in Alaska . He lived for many years on Samish Island .

Don loved reading, music, gardening and animals.

He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Ian Black and brother Iain Black.

He is survived by his loving mother Kathlyn (Betty) Black of Mount Vernon , three sisters Fiona (Jim) Black Jackson of Seattle, WA., Margot Black (Mark Peters) of Pebble Beach, CA., and Shona Black of Vancouver, Canada, and his cat Rebus. He is also survived by a nephew, Ian Jackson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ian Black memorial Scholarship of Skagit Valley College, or the Celtic Arts Foundation.

A Celebration of Don's Life will be held at a later date.
