Obituary

Donald L. Brady 1931-2009 Donald L. Brady passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 14, 2009. Don was born the youngest of 9 children, September 5, 1931, in Rolette, North Dakota to Homer and Hulda Brady. Don came west with the family in 1942 to Skagit Valley. Don worked many job from delivering papers, sewing seed sacks, to working for local farmers. Don loved telling stories of fishing on the Herring Seiner "The Fern", in SE Alaska. Don enlisted with the Air Force in 1950 and served 4 years in Germany honorably discharged as a Staff Sergeant. After returning to the States, Don apprenticed with his brother Marvin at Brady Electric in Burlington WA and then Married His sweet wife Joan Leadbetter in 1955, and was hired with Shell Oil Refinery in 1956 until retiring as Supervisor in 1988. Don's family and friends meant everything to him. Don spent many countless hours visiting family and friends over a cup of coffee, especially with his mom Hulda. Don built two family homes and helped countless friends work on theirs. Don wasn't happy unless he had a project to work on. He absolutely adorned his four grandchildren Jacob and Corey Gelineau and Hannah and Reid Allison. He will be greatly missed by all. Don is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Joan, son Mike, daughters, Amy and her husband Grant Gelineau, and their sons Jacob and Corey, Julie and her husband Reid Allison and their daughter and son, Hannah and Reid IV. Also surviving are his brothers, Kenneth and his wife Jean, and twin brother Dwaine and his wife Mary Lou: Sister Marion Tastad: Sister-in-law Lucille Brady, Bonnie Brady, Margurite Egbers and Janis and her husband Franklin Rossbach. Preceased in death are his parents Homer and Hulda Brady: his brothers Marvin, Rockwell and Homer Jr: sisters Phyllis Barbot and Lois Mann. Sister-in-law Lois Hughes. Special thanks to Skagit Valley Hospice and Ashley Gardens for Don's care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation, Salem Lutheran Church, and Skagit Valley Hospice. A private Military Burial Ceremony was held @ Hawthorne Memorial Park in Mount Vernon, WA. A Memorial for Don will be held at 4:30 pm Monday, September 21, at Salem Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon
