Donald Lee Guy of Big Lake passed away on June 17, 2006 at Providence Hospital in Everett. Don was born on April 18, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana to William Leland and Monona Helen Guy. He later moved with his family to Colorado Springs, CO. Reverend Guy was a pastor in the Church of the Nazarene for more than 50 years and continued to pastor actively during his retirement years. Following his ordination in Mineral Wells Texas, Don and his wife Mary served churches throughout Texas and Colorado including churches in Memphis, Buffalo Gap, Chillocothe, and Abilene, Texas, Colorado Springs, Rifle, and Burlington, Colorado. They later served churches in Washington, Idaho, and Hawaii in addition to teaching and working at the Nazarene Bible College in Western Samoa and in the countries of Guatemala and Ecuador. Don had the unique privilege of officiating at the marriages of his children and 2 grandchildren. Donald enjoyed his family, gardening, spectator sports as well as golf and in his early years tennis. He especially enjoyed singing, "Jesus Loves Me" to his great-grandchildren. Don is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Ann, his sons Robert (and wife Andrea) Guy of Big Lake, Steve (and wife Kassie) Guy of Simi Valley, CA, and daughter Dori (and Matt) Nakajima-Lang of Chiba, Japan. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lisa (and husband Hans) Schweizer of Granite Falls, WA, Nathan (and wife Mandi) Guy of Temecula, CA and Kurtis and Keegan Guy of Simi Valley, CA as well as his twin great-grandchildren, Tove and Koen Schweizer of Granite Falls, WA, his brother William (and wife Diane) Guy of Phoenix, AZ, Aunt Dorothy Guy of Litchfield, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. The family would like to thank Dr. Kuan and his staff both at Skagit Valley Kidney Center and in Everett as well as the caring staff at Providence Hospital. All those Don came in contact with truly demonstrated the love and care established by the sisters of providence and our Lord Jesus Christ in their care for him during his illness. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Big Lake Church of the Nazarene. Cremation was held under the care of Hawthorne Funeral Home. A private family inurnment was held at Hawthorne Lawn.
