Doris Caroline O'Dell passed away quietly and peacefully in the early hours on August 1st, 2018 following an extended battle with Alzheimer's.

Doris was born in Libby, Montana on June 10th, 1934 to Herbert and Esther Hamann. She graduated from Libby High School in 1952. Following graduation, she spent a few years simply living life and navigating life as a young adult, until she met the man of her dreams. On June 22nd, 1958, she married the love of her life Kim A O'Dell of Orcas Island, WA. They traveled the world as Kim served proudly in the United States Air Force, gaining lifelong friends and expanding their family. Together they had three sons. After her husband's years of service their family settled in Burlington, WA, and to this day her boys remain close to home.
Doris and Kim spent many years traveling and golfing before Kim's illness limited their travels. She dedicated herself to taking care of her husband in his ongoing battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, until 2011 when God decided it was his time to rest. His passing came just shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary. Following his passing, Doris directed all her love and attention to her family, grandchildren, and great grand-children. Alzheimer's might have taken her mind to another place from time to time, but her love for her family always prevailed through those moments.

Doris C. O'Dell is survived by her sons, Brian and his wife Sheila of Mount Vernon, son Patrick and his wife Jean of Burlington, and her son John of Burlington. Also her grandchildren Jessica Loey, Elizabeth O'Dell, Jacob O'Dell, Tyler O'Dell, Allison Bassett, Jennifer Jensen and Cassidy Puhl, along with her great-grandchildren Kaleigh, Kimberlee, Blake, Owen, Zigmund, Aubrey and Abbigail. As well as many family members in her home state of Montana including her brother Eugene Hamann of Kalispell.

A memorial and graveside service will be held on Friday August 10th at 3pm at Hawthorne Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Where The Heart Is memory care home, or a charity of your choice.
