Dorothy Marie Hagman, 83, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2012. Dorothy was born to Carl G. Nelson and Maude (Pillsbury) Nelson in Mount Vernon, WA, on March 31, 1928. She lived in Mount Vernon her entire life. She was in the first fifth grade class of the new Lincoln School. In 1946 she graduated from Mount Vernon High School. The following year she attended Linfield College for one year. On May 1, 1948 she married Floyd Hagman at the First Baptist Church. During their 63 years of marriage they enjoyed entertaining in their home. They had many trips to Hawaii, as well as several cruises, including trips through the Panama Canal, up the Mississippi River, and to St. Petersburg, Russia. They also made three trips to Israel. Dorothy worked for Sears in various departments for 20 years. She later worked for the Mount Vernon School District for 6 years. Finally, she worked at Riverside Millwork and Building Supply, which her husband Floyd owned and operated until they both retired. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many years and was very active there. She enjoyed singing at churches, weddings, and many other occasions when requested. She made a record in 1976. She had a stroke in 1996, which resulted in losing her ability to sing any longer. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her two brothers. She is survived by her son Paul Hagman and wife Debbie; her daughter Kay McAllister and her husband Mike; grandchildren: Donna McAllister, David and wife Kelly McAllister, Daniel and wife Shannon McAllister, Ryan Hagman and fiance Shelby Tanner, Jenny and husband Jeff Abdo; and three great-grandchildren: Kaile, Mitch, and Thomas; and her sister Luella Bustad. She will be missed by all of us and the many friends she loved. There will be a "Celebration of Life" service at Emmanuel Baptist Church at 2:00 PM on April 18, 2012. Memorial gifts can be directed to the building fund at Emmanuel Baptist.
