IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Duwayne Earl
"Mike" Pulver
December 27, 2022
DuWayne Earl "Mike" Pulver passed away December 27, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born May 4, 1938 in Spokane Washington to Harriett and Wayne Pulver. Mike was the oldest of six children growing up in Spokane Valley on the family farm. Mike's first job was working at a gas station, where he learned his first skills of customer service. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1957 and went into the army from 1957-1959. That's where he learned to clean toilets and make a very tidy bed!
In 1960, Mike met and married his first wife Sharon Hatch and together they had one daughter Kimberly Ann born on March 11, 1961. During this time, Mike broke his back at work. It was a very difficult time for him as multiple surgeries kept him hospital bound for months. This led to a life-time of backaches and chronic pain. In 1963, Mike met the love of his life Donna Jean at Skagit Valley business college. With his brother-in-law, Larry Haarstick, they started their Yamaha motorcycle shop in 1963. Mike's love of motorcycles was one of his favorite passions. Mike and Donna were married in Coupeville on June 20, 1964 with brother Jimmy as his best man. Derek Michael was born November 11,1964 in Mount Vernon, WA. Darin Wayne was born July 21, 1967 in Mount Vernon, WA and the family lived on Fir-Island for several years. Then the family moved to Moses Lake in 1971, to start Pulver's Farm Supply. Demi Jean was born August 16, 1972 in Moses Lake. At this time, Wayne (Mike's dad) had retired and they moved onto the big farm with all of us! We had lots of great memories here, many family reunions, swimming in the irrigation ditch, motorcycle racing and riding. So many fun-loving times here with extended family and friends.
In February of 1977, the family moved to Broadway Street in Conway, WA. Mike started at Blue Diamond Dairy Service where he worked for 33 years. He met his lifelong friends here, Chuck Rogers, Bill Nelson and Jeff Brooks. Mike dedicated himself to being a hard worker, a great leader and was always ready to serve his customers. Mike was a volunteer firefighter for the Conway Fire Dept. for 22 years. He had competitive races with Wayne Beath and Larry Johnson to see who could get to the firehall the fastest!! Our Conway house was also a great location for many memories; birthdays, graduations, deaths, parties, vacations and home projects. Sadly, on November 22, 1985 Mike's second son, Darin passed away coming home from college. This was a devastating time for the family and taught Mike to love even more deeply and to cherish so much more in life.
With their good friends, Bill and Shirley, Jeff and Jodi, Mike and Donna purchased the Maui 16 house! So much fun was had at this place!! Many great memories for sure. Day Creek became the Pulver home in the summer of 2000. Here Mike and Donna made this property such a fabulous place which was referred to as the Pulver Park! Beautiful gardens, motorcycle/quad track, 4 holed golf course and lots of Mike's creations as yard art. Mike was a Fire Dept. Commissioner for the Day Creek Fire Dept. for 6 years before giving it over to Donna.
Mike had a true love of history and enjoyed many hours of reading with his books. He loved listening and singing along to country music where he was VERY well known for belting out a tune! If you knew Mike, he always had a remark or as we call them "Mikeisms".
Mike is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Jean and their three children: Kimberly Ann of Spokane, Derek (Staci), Demi (Troy) Daman, 7 grandchildren: Heath, Rory, Cody, Austin, Lacey, Tanner, Tripp and 12 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Wayne and Harriett Pulver, his sisters, Sally, Marilynne, Judy and his son Darin Wayne. Mike was cremated and will share a gravesite with his son Darin at the Fir-Conway Cemetery by the big oak tree.
