Ed Locken Ed was born Feb. 9, 1920 in Conway WA to Otto and Ester Locken. He passed away peacefully December 12, 2006 At Life Care Center of Sedro Woolley. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing, and berry picking. He loved to be outdoors and in the woods. He was an avid Husky, Seahawk and Mariners fan. He loved sharing his time. He was active in the American Legion, Moose, Elks, and Eagles organizations, Card and Label Union, also State Hospital Employees Union, and a member of Valley Baptist Church. He graduated the 8th grade from Conway School in 1934 then Graduated from Union High School in Mt. Vernon in 1938. At the age 20 he joined the US Army, serving as a member of Battery B 768th \Field Artillery Battalion. In 1945 Ed was honorably discharged after being wounded in battle. He married Rose Black who passed away 6 years later due to cancer. He worked at Northern State Hospital as the woodshop supervisor where he met Lola Shell. They were married in Sedro Woolley and made their home there. They were together for 55 years. Ed owned Bert Robinson's Sporting Goods which was later renamed Ed's Sport Shop. He was Skagit County's "Fish Watch" broadcasting daily for KBRC. He also M C'd the "Farmer's Exchange" that was broadcast live from Bert Robinson's. In his retirement years, he and Lola were Members of the Wild Women of Woolley and A Few Good Men and traveled the Western States performing and raising money for the Meals on Wheels Program. He is survived by his wife Lola Locken of Sedro Woolley, 3 children daughter Ruth Ann (Locken) Hall and her husband Warren Hall, and sons Rick Renfro, wife Linda of San Pablo, CA and Ron Renfro of Tulelake Ca, grandchildren Daemon, Bryce and Jordyn Hall, Ken and Lee Symborski, Jason and Cheri Renfro, Jamey and Andrea Renfro, Patrick Renfro, Julie Renfro and numerous great grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his first wife Rose and brother John and sister in law Floise Locken . Viewing will be held Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A Memorial service will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., at the Valley Baptist Church, 710 John Liner Rd., Sedro Woolley with reception to follow. Private Interment will take place at Hawthorne Memorial Park
