Obituary

Edwin "Eddie" Jerome Sydnor passed away peacefully at Life Care Center in Mt. Vernon, Washington on Wednesday March 28, 2018. Edwin was born in Haynesville, Virginia October 5, 1950 and was raised in the Trinidad neighborhood of Washington, DC. Edwin spent most of his life in DC and Northern Virginia before moving to Fredericksburg in 1991. Edwin spent his entire 33 year career as a bus operator for the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and retired in 2005. In 2014, he moved west for new adventures and to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren on Whidbey Island, Washington.

Edwin had a smile that was infectious and a sense of humor that, although crass at times, sure to make everyone laugh. A big science fiction movie fan, Edwin could always be found telling someone about the newest movie he saw or how the new Star Trek movies compare to the originals. His love for movies was only rivaled by his love for music whether it was Motown legends, like the Temptations or Smoky Robinson, or D.C. locals such as Chuck Brown and Johnny Gill. He also loved cars and could tell stories about road trips in his 78 Cobra Mustang, his "old Lincoln" or driving off-road in his Jeeps.

Edwin will be remembered for his love of movies and music, his sense of humor, his love for cars, his art, and most of all, his love for his children and grandchildren.

Edwin is survived by his mother Corine Sydnor of Washington, DC; his brother, Thomas Sydnor of Washington, DC; his children, Erwin "Jules" Sydnor of Fayetteville, NC, Jendayi A. Stafford (Jarrod) of Oak Harbor, WA, and Shaka J. Sydnor (Heather) of Charlottesville, VA; and five grandchildren, Amaya Johns, Aubrey and Alden Stafford, and Isaiah and Zion Sydnor. He was preceded in death by his father Steven H. Sydnor of Washington, DC.

A memorial service will be held for Edwin on Saturday April 7, 2018 at 1:30pm at Real Life Community Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a Repass to follow.
