Elaine Elizabeth Motyka-Welsh died March 10, 2023 peacefully with her husband Rex Welsh by her side.  She had been on hospice since early December 2022 due to a long battle with Leukemia.

Elaine was a cancer nurse.  She was born October 6, 1949 in Wilkes Barre, PA.  She was raised in Kingston, PA where she attended what is now Wyoming Valley West High School.  She went on to nursing school at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia, PA with further education at Villanova eventually earning her Master's Degree from Widener University in Chester, PA.  She worked at various cancer centers in the Philadelphia area finishing her career as a Research Assistant for the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG) which would later become the NRG Oncology Group. There she worked on managing clinical patient data for many years on various NCI funded clinical trials.  After moving with her husband to Whidbey Island in the Pacific Northwest and then to Mt. Vernon, WA in 2021, she telecommuted with the NRG until her retirement January 1, 2022.

Her favorite hobbies included crossword puzzles, Sudoku and more of late, Words with Friends.  Her great love of wine led her and her husband to tour most if not all the wine regions of the US including Hawaii.

She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Rex Welsh and her brothers Stanley Motyka and Raymond Motyka, both of Larksville, PA.  She is dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.  Per Elaine's wishes there will not be a viewing or service.  She would want everyone's memory to be as they last saw her.
