Ethel Olson (Lind) Baalson

December 3, 1920 – February 24, 2021

Ethel Olson (Lind) Baalson passed away at Mira Vista Care Center February 24, 2021 at the grand age of 100.  She was born in Ferndale, Washington December 3, 1920, the 9 ^th child of 10 born to Hulda and Alfred Olson.  Ethel graduated from Bellingham High School and Bellingham Business College.  She married Ward Lind in 1940; they were married until his passing in 1973.  Together they raised 3 children, Patricia (Monte) Levaque, Ron Lind, and Dennis (Julie) Lind.  Ethel worked at several retail stores in Mount Vernon until her retirement in 1983.  Later she met and married Herman Baalson and enjoyed traveling and dancing with Herman until his passing.  Ethel loved sports, especially baseball and basketball, was an avid bowler, gardener and loved to read and crochet.  For many years Ethel was a staunch volunteer and regular at the famous VASA Lodge Pancake Breakfasts, very proud of her Swedish/Scandinavian heritage.  She will be remembered as a very kind, caring thoughtful person who will be missed by all, including her 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  In addition to her 2 husbands, she was preceeded in death by son, Ronald.  The family extends a warm, heartfelt thank you to the staff at Mira Vista for their care for the last 3 ½ years.  Those that are so inclined can make a donation in her remembrance to a youth baseball program of your choice.

A message from Ethel for her family and friends, "my life has been blessed by all of you – brothers, sister, nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren.  Love you all".

A Graveside Service will be held Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 11:00am at Hawthorne Memorial Park, Mount Vernon, WA.
