Ethel June (Nelson) Lind passed away December 3rd, 2015 at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, Wa. She was born June 5th, 1932 to Arthur and Svea Nelson in Mount Vernon. She was named after her aunt Ethel May who died during the flu epidemic of 1918-1919. Ethel lived in the Cedardale district during her childhood and grew up on the family farm. She was the youngest of 3 children, attended Conway grade school and graduated from Mount Vernon High School. Ethel made a home for herself in Stanwood, Wa. She worked for the Everett PUD and later for the Stanwood PUD office. In the mid 60's, Ethel met the love of her life, Earl Lind Sr. Earl and Ethel loved to dance and dance they did throughout their courtship and their happily married life. They made their home on the Britt Road and Ethel continued to live there after Earl's passing in 2004 Ethel worked for the Skagit County Assessor's Office from 1971 to 1991 . She was an avid knitter and seamstress, creating many lovely purple wool sweaters, quilts and special garments during her lifetime. Ethel was also a member of the Vasa Lodge, the local order of Elks, and loved to attend the shows the Anacortes Community Theater presented. She is preceded in death by her beloved Earl. She leaves behind her step-children, numerous nieces and nephews, both local and afar, extended family in La Conner and her faithful and patient neighbor. Services for Ethel will be held at Hawthorne's Funeral Home on Friday December 11th, 2015 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of choice in Ethel's name.
