IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Evelyn S
Griffin
September 3, 1930 – April 8, 2023
Evelyn came into this world, at home, in the tiny railroad town of Thistle, Utah, on September 3, 1930, and passed on, at home, on April 8, 2023. She was the youngest girl and joined a family that eventually had 9 children.
Evelyn attended Jordan High School in Utah, and started working after graduation. She held a few different jobs, but it was her job at a Salt Lake City candy shoppe that would change her life forever. There she met a handsome Air Force S/SGT, Delbert, and they immediately fell for each other. After dating only 6 months, they were married and just celebrated their 71 st anniversary in December
Delbert was then transferred to Washington, where they eventually welcomed their daughter, Rochelle, and 3 years later, their son Grant. Delbert was then transferred back to Utah, and their days were spent fishing, water skiing, traveling, and camping, always as a family. Family was their number one priority.
They transferred back to Washington permanently in 1968. Evelyn worked for the Burlington School District as a cook, first in the elementary schools, and then at the high school for many years. People still talk about her homemade cinnamon rolls. After leaving the school district, she opened and ran her own electrolysis business for 15 years.
Delbert and Evelyn loved nothing more than jumping in their motor home and traveling. They were snowbirds for many years, and traveled throughout the western states. They even spent 6 weeks traveling through Alaska, one of their favorite trips.
Evelyn was proceeded in death by her son Grant, her parents and all of her siblings.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Delbert, daughter Rochelle, grandson Zachary and his wife Chikage, great grandchildren Hikari and Masaki, and a granddaughter Taryn.
At her request, no services will be held. A memorial may be planned at a later date.
