Evelyn Youngquist, mother, grandma, and friend, died peacefully Oct. 23, 2023.
Evelyn was born Feb. 11, 1926 to Charles and Beulah Martin in Burlington, Washington, where she grew up with her brother, Elmer. Evelyn attended Belleville Grade School with 3 students in each grade, and graduated from BEHS in 1944. She married Marvin Youngquist in 1947 after he returned home from WWII.
Marvin and Evelyn enjoyed living in several homes, but especially enjoyed their home at Skagit Golf and Country Club, socializing with friends and playing golf.
Marvin and Evelyn always looked forward to moving to their Samish Island home for the summer. They spent their time crabbing, hosting parties, and having a great time with all of their special beach friends.
Marvin and Evelyn enjoyed traveling and visited many places in the US and abroad. After Marvin's passing, Evelyn made several trips with friends. Her favorite being Africa, which she had dreamed of since she was a child. She loved the people, the animals, and the country.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Deann Johnson, her children, beloved granddaughter, Krista Nelson granddaughters, Jessica Notaro (Chris) Erica Johnson Turner (Logan) and grandson, Zach Johnson; her son, Larry Youngquist (Sandi), their children, Kim Blomgren (Zane), Rebecca Saur, Kevin Saur; sister-in-law, Mabel Martin; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin, brother, Elmer Martin, and special friend Lyle Ovenell.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances are suggested to Country Meadows, 1501 Collins Road, Sedro Woolley, WA 89284, Program Director David Bricka, for a special musical event for the residents who became new friends, and staff who gave Evelyn such excellent care.
