Floyd L Nelson was born on August 7, 1927 in Hayes Township in Swift County, Minnesota. He loved learning and inherited a love for music from his mother. Floyd was a talented piano player. His sister, Grace said that no one could play like him.

When Floyd was 18, he joined the Coastguard and finished high school after his military service was done. He met Lucille when he was 19. Lucille moved out to California. Floyd decided he could not live without her and followed her to California. They were married on Oct. 15, 1949.

Floyd went to college and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration. He began a career working for the IRS and retired in 1985. One year after his retirement, he began working at Pacific Tax helping people with their taxes. He eventually owned his own tax business and he and Lucille worked together until they retired when he was 90 years old.

Floyd is survived by his wife of over 71 years, Lucille, two sons, Alan Martin Nelson and his wife Kathy, their three sons, Erik, Andy, and Garret. Lynn Bryan Nelson, his daughter Shelby, and son, Joseph, along with three great-grandchildren.
